Design process
-
Before designing any solution, I have to understand why a problem is happening. Understanding who is experiencing a problem, what their needs and motivations are, and in what context it happens will form the foundation of any solution.
I usually accomplish this step with stakeholder interviews, one-on-one customer interviews, and customer field studies. -
After gathering insights about our customer and a problem, I bring focus back to our team. This results in a revised problem statement, objective, and success metric.
Getting stakeholders aligned is usually accomplished by prioritizing insights, considering implications, and drafting a project plan. -
After focusing on an objective, I facilitate exploration workshops to come up with a variety of solutions.
Brainstorming ideas is accomplished by facilitating workshops to ignore constraints, sketch together, and get feedback. -
Once the team agrees on a single solution, I will gather more feedback about the solution from our customers.
This is usually accomplished by describing a task or scenario to a customer and watching them use our prototype.
